How does Selphyl PRFM Hair Restoration work?

How do platelets increase hair growth?
PRP or platelet-rich plasma is a preparation of platelets – taken from a person through a small blood draw, which is then put in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the red and white blood cells. This all happens prior to the treatment, when the platelets are injected back into the scalp. Once centrifuged, the plasma is reported to be 300% to 700% enriched with platelets concentration to more than 1 million platelets per microliter. Platelets not only provide coagulation but they also secrete several growth factors (proteins like platelet-derived growth factors, insulin-like growth factors, epidermal growth factors, keratinocyte growth factor, vascular endothelial growth factor, etc.) and other cell-to-cell activation molecules. The growth factors within, and released by the platelets, act on the stem cells found at the base of the hair follicles.
What results will I see?
Most patients will see their final results 3-6 months after the final injection. However, this varies from person to person, and in some instances a second series may be necessary for optimal results. The protocol is a series of 3 treatments spaced about 6 weeks apart.
While there is no downtime, we always instruct patients to avoid aggressively massaging the scalp for 72 hours post-treatment. It’s essential to remain gentle when washing the hair or sleeping on the part of the scalp that was treated, as we don’t want to disrupt the matrix.
